GOD SIGHTING AT BURWOOD UMC

For many years, Linda Poteete has played the piano for the services at Burwood United Methodist Church.

Recently, though, her ability to continue playing was in jeopardy. Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago. She went through chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Her prognosis is excellent.

However, a side effect of chemotherapy is loss of feeling in one’s fingers. A pianist needs feeling in their fingers. As her pastor, I was concerned that she might not be able to play again.

The story of how Linda became Burwood’s pianist is an inspiration to me. Linda started playing piano at Burwood after she felt a call to play the piano.

On Sunday, February 4, I was preparing for the service when Linda entered the sanctuary and headed straight for the piano. That surprised me, because the last I had heard was that she was not able to play. She played for the service and played beautifully.

Later, Linda told me she does not yet have full feeling in her fingers. That didn’t stop her from playing.

During the announcements, we clapped for Linda and praised God for making this possible. Linda continues to be an inspiration to me and Burwood United Methodist Church.
